Had a great weekend with Alex Shimwell on his 2 day throwing improver course, excellent one on one tuition tailored to individual needs, really got a lot out of it and feel that I have stepped up a level. Good fun, great space with refreshments throughout the day and lunch included at a venue of your choice within walking distance of the studio, highly recommended for any thrower wishing to develop new techniques that take the strain out of moving clay on the wheel, Alex can show you how to be efficient with energy and power, I have 2 frozen shoulders at the moment so it's very painful for me just wedging 4 kg of clay, Alex got me moving 10 kg of clay on the wheel vertically pain free just using clever techniques that he has developed over the years, he is a joy to watch throw and a pleasure to be taught by, thank you Alex and.............when's your next course?

All I can say is doing a pottery class with Alex is the perfect way to destress. And Alex is a great teacher - what he doesn't know....every question my class asked he had a full answer. His technical knowledge is second to none - I thought he'd studied chemistry, rather than ceramics! However, he is clearly talented and makes fabulous pots. Other than that he's fun, refreshingly honest and also supportive to help you improve. I'm looking forward to booking my next set of sessions.
